The Area and Directions

The Sonoma Coastline is famous for its scenery and we feel that here at Bodega Bay we have some of the prime areas for just gazing at nature and its beauty. Most guests who rent for short stays with us spend most of their time on the property enjoying themselves relaxing on the deck or in the spa and watching the ocean, listening to the birds and seals, or watching a brilliant sunset.

Bodega Bay is located off Highway 1 a little over an hours drive from the Golden Gate Bridge. We are situated at the Sonoma Marin County line which is demarcated by the Estero' Americano River (a brackish water estuary that winds 4 ½ miles inland). We provide two single person kayaks and a canoe for our renters to explore the wildlife and scenery of this tranquil river.

We are located a scenic hour drive from the Sonoma Co. wine country with its abundance of gold medal wineries. www.sonoma.com/wineries and www.napavintners.com A drive north on Hwy. 1 takes you past Jenner and the mouth of the Russian River, historic Fort Ross (a restored Russian settlement) and through quaint towns like Gualala or Anchor Bay. Going east on 116 from Jenner takes you through the majestic redwoods where you can hike in Armstrong Woods State Park. www.russianriver.com A short drive south on Highway 1 takes you to Tomales Bay and the entrance to the Point Reyes National Seashore.

Closer to home in Bodega Bay, we have Bodega Head a favorite look-out point for watching migrating whales from January-April. The renowned University of California Bodega Bay Marine Laboratory has scheduled tours.

Fishing is a big part of the economy of the area.  There are charter boats for ocean fishing and whale watching and the annual Fishermen's Festival with the Blessing of the Fleet is fun to watch. www.bodegabay.com  Our rental is located next to of the more challenging and scenic golf courses in northern California - Bodega Bay Harbour Links. www.bodegaharbourgolf.com As our weather is varied, so is the scenery and things to do here, so come prepared to enjoy what Luther Burbank described- " this is the chosen spot of all this earth as far as Nature is concerned".

"This is an amazing place to stay. Its on a private road that no one without the code can get to, you are ALL ALONE and the views of the ocean are breathtaking. It has two private small homes in one, so a two couples could vacation together yet have their own space! Its on a private beach! The houses are wondeful but bring groceries with you and bottles of wine because you wont want to leave!" Lake Tahoe, Ca (2/08/09)

"I came here to relax and that's just what I did-and the view-I could never grow tired of looking at. Look forward to returning." Claudia, Sac.CA 5/05/07

" I don't think we could have found a more beautiful private spot. We all loved our week here, wished we could stay longer! We'll be back."  Cheyda K.  Rosemount, MN (07/12/07)
